Reducing emissions from buildings by supporting real estate professionals and the building and development industry

Website

In the Bow Valley, 33% of all greenhouse gas emissions come from the construction or space heating of new or existing buildings. This represents a hugely important opportunity to reduce emissions, given the thousands of buildings that will be constructed in the next few years to accommodate the tens of thousands of people who will live here.

We will accelerate the use of sustainable building technologies in the Bow Valley – leading to reducing emissions from buildings – by working with two key groups (below). We’ll use a novel, participatory education model to co-create educational events or publications that meet groups’ specific needs, interests, and timing.

The primary outcome of this project is to create a community of professionals who are knowledgeable about the full spectrum of sustainable building approaches and technologies, understand the economic and climate benefits of using these technologies, and confidently support the use of these technologies in new buildings and retrofits.
